Date and Time: Thursday, April 18, 2019, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. EDT

This webinar will focus on safe and effective methods that homeowners can consider for remediating and restoring flood-damaged homes, with special emphasis on antimicrobial use—including gas/vapor phase biocides, hydroxyl-radicals, and botanicals—as well as best practices for cleaning and drying materials and surfaces. Dr. Gene Cole will also discuss how to know if mold testing is necessary and what to look for if you need to find a professional for assistance.

Presenter: Gene Cole, Dr.P.H., Research Director at LRC Indoor Testing & Research, Cary, NC (formerly Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at Brigham Young University)

Dr. Cole holds a Doctor of Public Health in biohazard science/occupational health and a Master of Science in public health microbiology, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Cole has more than 30 years of experience in public, occupational, environmental and international health, including in infectious disease transmission, environmental pollution, exposure assessment, bioterrorism preparedness and indoor environmental quality (with a focus on asthma and allergen control). Dr. Cole is an expert on flood cleanup and the use of biocides. He conducts applied research on practical approaches to preventing and controlling human exposures and related health risks, with a particular emphasis on low-cost solutions to important public health problems.
